Saint Peter's School hosted over 200 fourth and sixth graders from our Dutchess County regional schools and they were visited by best-selling author, Joseph Bruhac,. Mr. Bruchac spoke to students about his books which help students gain an understanding of Native American culture.
Saint Peter's students from Grades Pre-K to 8th displayed projects they did after reading Mr. Bruhac's books.
The visit was sponsored by the National Endowment of the Arts as part of their NEA Big Read initiative to broaden the understanding of our world, our communities, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book. The Poughkeepsie Public Library System was awarded this grant again and has purchased over 1,000 books for our Catholic elementary schools in Dutchess county in the last two years!
